2014 Family Reunion in Atlanta

THURSDAY – JULY 3, 2014
4:00 – 6:30  ––  Meet & Greet in Hospitality Room
We checked in on Thursday, then joined together for a “meet and greet” in the Hospitality Suite of the hotel. We enjoyed light refreshments and picked up our t-shirts.
7:00 Dinner
We trekked over to Copeland’s Cheesecake, a two to twenty minute walk (depending on our age and how many shops we checked out on the way). Copeland’s serves a combination of New Orleans’ food and the famous menu of the Cheesecake Factory.

FRIDAY – JULY 4, 2014
8:00 am – 10:00 am  ––  Light Breakfast in Hospitality Suite
We enjoyed light refreshments in the Hospitality Suite before beginning our first full day in Atlanta!

11:00 am – 3:00 pm  ––  Adventure!
Those who pre-paid hopped aboard our reserved bus, which made stops at the Georgia Aquarium, The Underground, and Lennox Square Mall, then took us back to the hotel. Others ran off to the Atlanta Aquarium (the largest aquarium in the world) for a day of sun and sea creatures.

6:30 pm – Until it was over  ––  Fourth of July Celebration
It was the Fourth of July! Centennial Park had their annual 4th of July Celebration, complete with food, games, and of course fireworks!  Centennial Park is about 10 minutes from our hotel by cab, and we had several vehicles reserved to ferry interested family members to and from Centennial Park to enjoy the festivities! (The less adventuresome of us watched to show from the balcony of our rooms at the hotel.)

SATURDAYJULY 5, 2014
9:00 am – 11:00 am  ––  Southern Hospitality Breakfast
We all showed up in our Ellerbee Family Reunion t-shirts for a hearty buffet breakfast at the hotel, then headed out on our own to explore Atlanta!

12:00 pm – 2:00 pm  ––  Group Photo Shoot (in our t-shirts)
Say “Cheese!!!” (some of us said “kimchi!!!”). A professional photographer took pictures of the family, both group photos and individual and smaller group pictures. (Please Contact Larissa at larissaellerbee@hotmail.com if you have any questions about the photos.)

6:00 pm – 10:00 pm  ––  Welcome to Atlanta Banquet
This semi-casual family banquet was held in the hotel’s banquet hall. We enjoyed loads of food served buffet style, mingled, and talked to all of your family members!

2012 Family Reunion in the Poconos at Split Rock Resort

As expected, our 2012 family reunion was fabulous!

On Friday, all of us gathered in the hospitality room for a Meet & Greet.  We were introduced to family members never before met and reaquainted with those we haven't seen in a while.  Each family member was greeted with a warm hug, gift bag, and reunion t-shirt!  Following the Meet & Greet, we each went our separate ways to participate in the many options available at the resort.  Some of us played Family Feud, others went straight to the pool,  while some just relaxed in "The Pit."  Friday night, we all gathered in our dining room for a delicious dinner.  The menu had so many options, it was difficult to choose just one entree!

Saturday morning, we all gathered for a grand breakfast buffet!  From omelets to homemade waffles, the breakfast was definitely a hit!  Afterwards, the family took advantage of the spectacular waterpark at the resort!  Everyone loved it (especially the kids).  While some were at the waterpark, some played bingo, while others played intense games of table tennis.  After a fun filled day, we all gathered for dinner once more.

Sunday was the Grand Finale!  We had the Ellerbee Luau!  Each person received a lei, the women received a flower for their hair, and the men got their straw hats.  We were ready to party!  The luau began with a limbo contest.  Everyone (and that means EVERYONE) showed just how low they could go!  Sore hips, backs and knees may have been felt in the morning, but we didn't care!  The dinner at the Luau was nothing short of fabulous!!  Burgers, hot dogs, ribs, chicken, salmon...there was enough food to feed an army!

Monday was the day not for good-byes, but see ya later!  We had breakfast together in the morning and then everyone hit the road for their safe journeys  back.  All in all everyone had a blast!  What a beautiful reunion!!

2010 Ellerbee Family Reunion in Charlotte, North Carolina

SATURDAY: CHARLOTTE CITY TOUR

This tour included a journey into Charlotte's entertainment areas, including museums, galleries and restaurants.  We went into the historic neighborhoods and much more.  We had a hilarious tour guide that not only told us about the history of Charlotte, but also told us about all of the exciting things that Charlotte has to offer now. We took a family picture while in the heart of Charlotte.

SATURDAY NIGHT:  WE GOT CLOSER WITH SOME BOWLING!!

This was our informal Saturday night banquet! We had a private room and several reserved lanes at a local bowling/games facility (within walking distance of the hotel) called Strike City (www.strikecitycharlotte.com). The private room also had its own bowling lanes and bar. We had our own waitstaff and FOOD, FOOD, AND MORE FOOD!! We had so much fun while eating, bowling and getting to know each other better!

Afterwards, there were so many things to do in the area. Strike City is in the new Epicenter in Uptown Charlotte. Many family members took this opportunity to explore uptown Charlotte and discover what Charlotte nightlife had to offer!

SUNDAY NIGHT: LOVE, PEACE & FAMILY BANQUET

This was our formal family banquet in the hotel’s banquet hall. We had a talent show and other activities. Who knew that we had such talented poets, dancers and comedians in the family??  Music was provided by an out of this world dj and dancing was HIGHLY encouraged.

Other Weekend Activities

While waiting for the official activities, there were even more things for us to do...

Friday NightDinner at Lola's Restaurant

To kick off the weekend, we had a fabulous dinner at Lola's Restaurant (300 S. Brevard Street).  We reserved the entire restaurant, so we could mingle, linger and eat as long as we pleased!  The macaroni & cheese was the hit of the night!

Saturday Morning: Discovery Place

We rediscovered science while having a blast!  Many family members took a group trip to Discovery Place.  This interactive museum allows you to have a hands on experience with lots of exhibits!

Sunday MorningBreakfast at Lola's

The Ellerbee Family once again made our way to our adopted "Ellerbee Family Restaurant", Lola's.  We had a filling breakfast of biscuits, eggs, pancakes and much more!  We were too stuffed to move!

Sunday Afternoon: Levine Museum of the New South

After breakfast, we went to find out about the growth of the south overall and Charlotte specifically.  We experienced the feel of cotton plants and sat at an authentic 1950's lunch counter!

Sunday Afternoon: Horse Drawn Carriage Rides

We then enjoyed a slow ride throughout Charlotte.  For those who wanted to enjoy Charlotte while slowly cruising through the streets of uptown Charlotte, we had the perfect activity!!  Horse drawn carriages  arrived at the front door of our hotel just to take us throughout uptown Charlotte!
